Setting your intention.
Tip 6: Hold in your consciousness the image of the animal you wish to contact.Welcome!
After getting relaxed and centered, the second step in animal communication is to set your intention. Mentally set your intention to communicate with a particular animal. One way to do that is to hold the image of the animal you wish to contact in your consciousness. Then initiate your communication by sending a mental message to that particular animal, identifying yourself, and, if need be, letting the animal know why you would like to talk to them.
Set the stage in other words. Ask the animal if they would be willing to talk with you. If you are able to make contact and the animal agrees to talk, the communication starts. This is all done silently in one’s mind. It’s like having a silent, clear communication. You sink deep inside and speak and listen from your heart. What is most important is that you become a really good listener. I’ll talk about that in my next blog.
When I consciously started to contact Regal telepathically after taking my first class in animal communication, I remember the scene very clearly. I had come home from the workshop and was feeling the fatigue after a long and engaging weekend of learning. After settling back into my house, I sat down in my comfortable lounging chair in the rec room. I put my feet up and started listening to the tape by Penelope Smith called “Animal Death: A Spiritual Journey.” Mary Getten, an animal communicator and the workshop presenter, knew that I had recently lost Regal and she felt that this particular tape would be especially beneficial to me.
To say the least, it was. Listening to this tape was a wonderful follow-up to the workshop because it gave me an opportunity to practice all that I had learned. It also gave me a deep insight into animal spirituality and it opened me to an opportunity of a lifetime—having a profound communication with my Regal Cat a month after her passing. This insightful conversation is contained in the Epilogue of my book, Regal: An Intimate View of One Magnificent Feline. Considering the delight of the entire book, I will refrain from sharing that conversation now. I just wouldn’t want to take away from the total impact of the book.

Tip 5: Learn to relax and get centered.
Welcome!
We can use these understandings about the power of thought as a foundation for understanding telepathic communication. In addition, we need to have an attitude of respect, positive expectations, and receptivity to the avenue of intuitive information. We set the stage by being open to what is possible. We can use our power of thought with the elements that make telepathic communication with animals successful.
In the workshop, we learned about these elements. Our thoughts, our beliefs, and our attitudes towards animals influence and set the stage for how receptive we are and how willing they are to communicate and share with us. For communication to occur, our attitude of respect and the recognition of the spiritual essence and potential of animals are essential. This greatly influences how and what the animals will share. This is certainly true in human communication too, isn’t it? We share our deeper thoughts and feelings with those who will listen, are non-judgmental, and who care about us.
We first learned about the process of getting into a quiet inner space. It is important to get into a state of relaxation and to get centered as you begin. This helps us to shift from the mentally active, thinking, left brain to the more open, receptive, right brain. Relaxation techniques such as gently stretching of one’s muscles and then relaxing them while synchronizing with your breathing can help here. Focusing your attention on what this feels like and watching your breath, being the observer, is an excellent way of getting centered.

Tip 4: We move toward that which we think about.
Welcome!
Following up from my last entry, I told you that I would share a personal experience of manifesting something in my life by focusing my thoughts and visualizing. Focusing on what I wanted in my life, by seeing it as happening now, brought it about. This is a simple example but makes the point.
I was going to play in my first racquetball tournament and was aware of how nervous I could get. I sat down in the locker room floor and visualized and affirmed that I was playing beautifully, hitting the ball low, fast, and in difficult spots for my opponent to reach, was calm and confident, and saw it as all happening now. I visualized this and affirmed it for about 30 seconds. I then went down to play my first game. My opponent was an excellent player and we remained nip and tuck but I was always able to remain a point or two ahead of my opponent. At about point 14 or 15, she started to make mistakes as the pressure mounted. I remained calm and confident and played exactly as I had visualized. I did not react to the pressure and, in fact, remained more as an active observer. I eventually did win the match that afternoon. This is a simple example of the power of visualizing but really illustrates the power of our thoughts and that we move toward that which we think about.
As contemplate this information with a relook at your own life, think about any one of your “dreams” that has now become a reality for your. Because you held onto something that you wanted in your life in your mind, believed at a deep level that you were worthy of it, and were willing to put out the effort for it, it has materialized in your life. Perhaps you now have the family you dreamed of, you are being the parent that you always wanted to be, the business has started and is going well, you went to go to college and are now making a living doing what you dreamed about, or such and such hasn’t happened because deep down you really don’t believe you are worthy of it.
Our dreams can become our realities if we hold on to them firmly, believe they are possible, know we are worthy of them, and are willing to put out the necessary effort that may be required.
